Kristin Dalen is working as a researcher at the Global Studies Group at Fafo. She has a Master degree in Comparative Politics and broad experience in studies of living conditions, political preferences and policy development particularly in contexts characterized by crises and rapid transitions.
Over the last years she has worked mainly on social policy expansions, public perceptions of distribution and governance, and social and economic transition in China. She has also been part of a large project following the development in Sichuan after the 2008 Wenchuan earth quake.
Beyond this she has worked extensively on governance, social development and public perceptions in Myanmar, Palestine, Jordan and Iraq. She has been project leader for several large research projects in China and the Middle East, including the design and implementation of large scale living condition surveys and national surveys of public opinions and perceptions of distributive justice and social policy.
She is currently a Ph.D. Candidate at the University of Bergen, Institute for Comparative Politics.
Dalen is a board member in the Nordic Association of China Studies (NACS) and member of the steering committee for Asianet. She is currently also a member of the board in Fafo Research Foundation.
