Evaluation of Speed School I Program in West Africa

The Speed School program is a nine-month accelerated learning program implemented by Strømme Foundation.

The program provides three years’ worth of primary education to children who have never been to school or who have dropped out of school and wish to reintegrate back to the formal education system. Since the program started in 2004, around 150 000 out-of-school children (OOSC) have completed the program. The main objective of the evaluation is to assess the long-term impact of the Speed School program on its graduates, communities and local education systems and conduct a value for money analysis of the program in the three West African Countries: Mali, Burkina Faso and Niger. Additionally, the evaluation synthesises key findings from previous evaluations and reports and document the long term impact of the Speed School program on beneficiaries and key stakeholders. Furthermore, the evaluation should provide clear recommendations for improvement of the program with a particular focus on the transitions of Speed School graduates to primary schools and the role that local communities and authorities can and should plan in this process.
