Arbeidsrettens historie

History of the Norwegian Labour Court

The Norwegian Labour Court was established in 1916 and will in 2016 celebrate its 100th anniversary. In this project we write the history of the Labour Court. The Labour Court has filled an important function in an increasingly complex and regulated society and working life. The Labour Court has been an important tool in keeping peace and resolve disputes between the social partners, and the court and the social partners have mutually influenced each other. The history of the Norwegian Labour Court will illuminate the court's inner life, the people that filled its positions, the interaction between judges and judges appointed based on nomination of labour market organizations, and the internal organization of the court and its relation to other judicial bodies.
