The year 2020 was scheduled to become the year of far-reaching changes in the regulation of the Norwegian taxi industry. As the year progressed, and the Covid-19 pandemic unfolded, it turned out more dramatic than anyone could have fore-seen. This essay offers a brief overview of the history and organisation of the Norwegian taxi industry, followed by findings from a research project, where we, among other things, explored how taxi owners and drivers in Norway experienced 2020.
