Housing-conditions of non-resident migrant workers

In this project, we will take a closer look at the housing conditions of non-resident labuor migrants who are provided accommodation through their employer. The study will also examine the experiences labour migrants have when they need to find a place to live on their own.

More than 50,000 workers from countries in Central and Eastern Europe work in Norway each year without being registered as residents. There is limited knowledge about how these workers live while they are in the country.

Both the Labour Inspectorate and the trade union movement have expressed concern about substandard housing conditions and the need for more knowledge.
