Fafo will research the living conditions of unaccompanied minors in reception centres and how their care needs are met. The project will lead to recommendations on how UDI can ensure that all unaccompanied minors in reception receive proper care.
The project is organized in four modules.
- In the first module, we will look at how the work to ensure proper care for unaccompanied minors living in reception centres is regulated and managed, and map the various actors' responsibilities for and understandings of the care work.
- In module two, we will examine living conditions and the care situation from the young people's perspective, and map how their needs are met across reception centres.
- In module three, we will look at how care for unaccompanied minors is organized and carried out in practice at the various reception centres, both EMA reception centres and ordinary ones.
- In the last module, we will develop recommendations for how UDI can improve care work through changes in regulations and practice, internal organisation, management and professional systems, information or training/skills development.
