The challenge facing applied peacebuilding research is to understand and communicate the complex realities of conflict in a manner that speaks to the utilitarian demands of policymakers. In Search of Strategy reviews the literature on post-conflict reconstruction, describes the existing policy consensus, and suggests a peace implementation framework as a way to structure research on transitions from conflict. The authors argue for an approach to peace implementation that integrates the international implementation machinery to an analysis of social transformations.
