Religion plays an increasingly important role in debates about multicultural society. In particular, Islam and Muslims are frequently highlighted in discussions on integration.
Fafo has carried out several projects that explore the role of religion in multicultural Norway from different perspectives.
We have studied how religion can act both as a barrier and as a resource in the integration process for children of immigrants.
We have also examined public policy towards faith communities, and how these communities can serve as partners for public authorities in addressing integration challenges.
