Collective organizations and institutions in the Norwegian labour market

The industrial actors and institutions are key elements in the Norwegian labour market model. Previous research has shown that these institutions are solid, however, the unionization rate and the collective bargaining coverage in the private sector are decreasing.

In a four-year research program on Collective organizations and institutions in the Norwegian labour market, financed by the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs, Fafo will conduct research on industrial actors and institutions in the Norwegian labour market, with a special focus on the parties, collective agreements, collective bargaining and labour disputes. The project will monitor the development in unionization rates, collective bargaining coverage and industrial disputes in the Norwegian labour market, as well as carry out studies where the ambition is to gain more knowledge about what affects these collective institutions. Fafo has also been granted this research program in previous four-year periods.
